MELLO's GOT YOU COVERED

First a big "Thank You" goes out to RossyBoy for the awesome cover & title for my comp.
Yes, an old vato that has you covered in more ways than one LOL!. I don't mean to be repetitive but once again these versions are not by the original artists. I suspect some of these too may surprise as not being the original artists who sang these songs. I also continue to hope that I'm able to deliver some new tunes to you from my selection. I'll only know if you let me know.

As a Chicagoan, I pass on a bit of info on track # 5. Her name may imply that she is of Japanese heritage but actually she was born Rosemarie Timotea Aurro in Chicago, & was the product of an Italian-American family that owned a local restaurant. She is also considered by many to be the first so-called blue-eyed soul singer of the 60's.

01.A Fork In The Road - Rebbie Jackson
02.Darling, Forever - The Four Chevelles
03.I Who Have Nothing - Little Ray (Ramon Jimenez)
04.I'm Doing Fine Now - The Three Degrees
05.It'll Never Be Over For Me - Timi Yuro
06.Just Another Guy - The O'Jays

09.Love On A Two Way Street - The Moments
10.Weep No More - Six Pak
11.When Love Slips Away - The Identities
12.Who Can I Turn To - The Main Ingredient
13.Let's Straighten It Out - Gwen McCrae
14.The Weatherman - Sister Sledge
15.How Can I Forget - Ben E. King
16.We Belong Together - Ritchie Valens
17.Precious, Precious - O. V. Wright

Familia Souldiez Vol 9 - Poor Boy's Prayers

Late Spring: must be time for the familia to get together for that twice-yearly rendezvous! We toss around some tunes and try to find only the finest, the rarest and the firmest to share with our buddies. In time-honored tradition, I elect myself as the bonus-maker - getting to choose an extra opening track to set the mood. The theme this time out is "Poor Boy's Prayers" and the G MAN has out-done himself in the cover stakes in preparing the arte for this one. All the Lowriders will know Santo & Johnny's "Sleepwalk", released in 1959.  What many don't know is that the Farina brothers also wrote lyrics for that classic instrumental, although they never recorded a singing version themselves. But Betsy Brye did issue a version of "Sleepwalk" with lyrics that year. Trust our Sister DustyRose to come up with that gem ! Hope this latest volume keeps up the standards of yesteryear. Please let us know ! RossyBoy

Tyrone Davis Greatest Hits

Say People!
Things have gotten a bit quiet so Mello's gotta help to keep things rollin' on Cali.Lifestyles.
This cd has long been out of print & just so happens to be a Chicago artist to .
I had the pleasure of  meeting  Tyrone in the early seventies through a fellow employee that had worked with
him in the steel mills on the far south side of Chicago. He first recorded on the Four Brothers label as "Tyrone The Wonder Boy" back then. Our meeting took place after he opened up "The Tyrone Davis' Entertainment Center" on the West Side of Chicago. After this cd was made he released a boat load of great tunes that were continually added to his Greatest Hit's List.
I hope you enjoy this early part of the great legacy of music he left behind for us.

THESE MEN IN LOVE

Q-vo Gente!
The Ol' Gringo back on the scene.
And this time with one from Bangkok, Thailand... just like I am LOL.
Who know's? My next posted comp may be from Bangladesh.
Anyway, once retiring from local musical venues,
my past twelve years have been devoted towards the collecting of ballads/sweet soul sounds that have always been my preferred personal flavor & passion.
Some great artists on this set in spite of me not being a "Northern " fan.
I often times think that the wrong side of the record was chosen.
I do offer things such as this though, to our family, because of the vast interest our collectors seem to have.

This term has been used in the past by Rose & Rossy & I use it now.
"Sharing Is Caring"
(To me the post is the sharing & the comment left is the caring)

DustyRose and RossyBoy's Crossing The Tracks

Why did the the Elephant cross the tracks ?
To get into The Room.
Now there's an Elephant in The Room, but nobody's talking about it.
Why did DustyRose and Rossyboy cross the tracks ?
They were playing that Double Cross game, where each sends the other
six tracks and then they each supply another six tracks in response;
so the tracks are in pairs. Hopefully they've both got a nose for a good tune.
Their last collaboration was extremely popular so maybe people will
be talking about this one too !
Only one way to find out and that's to have a listen.
"I'm all Ears" as the Elephant might say.

SUPER SOUL LEGENDS Vol. 1 & 2

Presented by The Pacific Concert Group and filmed live in 1996 in Hollywood, California to a sold out 6000-seat audience, this DVD is without a doubt the best concert footage of these great artists that you will ever see! You'll get over two and a half hours of hit songs and heartfelt performances by Oldies Legends like you've never seen before! If you are a soul collector then this is the double DVD set that you want to add to your collection! Also included are never before seen rare Artist Interviews and Pictures!!

About three yrs. ago DustyRose & I had talked about this set that we both had. We were not able to deliver it as a share since it was a video plus the length of the concert. Once Brownboy started posting flicks, I contacted him & asked if he would try to get this together for posting  if  I sent it to him.. After a lot of trial & error work on his part, he shot the final links to RossyBoy to authenticate that the links were valid. Thanks Rossy for being a helper in this delivery, we appreciate it.

Mello sez; a request will be needed for the links to this set & thanks for your support.
