Familia Souldies Vol 25 - Doing Our Thing With Pride

Well, Well - who'd have believed it; the Familia has joined the Quarter Century Club !

From humble beginnings - a love of the music, an enthusiastic crew and a lot of whipping - we've managed to produce 25 of these bad boys over the past few years. That's some achievement when there are quite a few people involved and deadlines to be met. Most of the Familia made it in this time round; my thanks to them for their great picks. The G MAN has been doing his cover thing with us all of the way - we're grateful for your greatness yet again, G MAN ! 

We hope you enjoy our latest opus - it sounds pretty darned good to my ears, but maybe I'm a bit biased.  Let us know; it helps us to keep that pride and enthusiasm fired up ! As usual, there are scans in the package.

PS I know how to spell GUINNESS, having drunk gallons of the stuff over the years; so don't blame me for the writers' spelling on track #1. RossyBoy

FAMILIA SOULDIEZ VOLUME 16 - STREET LAMP SERENADES

For me, Memorial Day is a day to remember loved ones we have lost. On May 15,2014 I lost my brother Rudolph Raymond Aversa so I am dedicating this volume to Rudy.

Though my heart is sad I know that my brother would want me to carry as if he were still here because he is still here in spirit. I have added three songs to the end of this volume in his memory.

GET SOUL - Old School Soul Sampler

It doesn't matter whether you call it "Soul Music", "Old School" or "Urban" (a title I never could figure out) - To me, it's all related to Gospel & Blues and, as such remains a true black american art form. Throughout the years it has been synthesized, homogenized, proselytized, criticized, idolized, & analyzed. It's also been widely imitated -- without it, there would've been no Elvis & there would be no Rolling Stones & countless other bands who've felt it's influence. It has brought people of all races & religions together in song & dance, serving as a universal antidote for bigotry & ignorance - indeed a lofty achievement for an art form.

As you can see, this compilation was intended for DJ's/radio stations, etc. & was not for sale.

Red Hot Souldies - Chapter Two - Keep Your Hands Off My Ruca

Those blood-letting cuts took a while to heal; unfortunately, a few drops of the sticky red stuff fell on Mello's keyboard and that sure ain't good for a computer ! So our Chicago brother, a techno-freak, had to sit this session out. But true to familia form, into the breach stepped our Doo-Wop sibling Chi-Town to stretch his imagination beyond the Fifties to bring you some of his soulful favorites. What a strong familia we have - we even have a Chicago special teams subs bench ! Our gratitude to Chi-Town for ensuring that we're right on schedule for our 3-monthly outing of Red Hot Souldies ! Is it a coincidence that it's Christmas Eve ? "Ho, ho, ho !", of course not ! Santa's suit is blood-red too - don't you know he's one of the brothers ?!?
